Beauty Bits and Tips:  a few more beauty hints from us

Winter Skin  Busters

That dry winter skin.  Ugh!  It's itchy, uncomfortable and can be downright ugly.  So, what to do about it.   Exfoliate -- where appropriate -- and moisturize.   (You probably already knew that, right?)   But, what products to use?   There are a lot of great ones out there but we thought we'd tell you about a few of our favorites.  P.S.  Even though its winter don't forget to use a sunscreen  with SPF 15 higher on exposed skin.

Face - One of the best moisturizers I've found is hyaluronic acid.  There are a number of products out there with this ingredient but  I happen to like Skinceuticals Hydrating B5 Gel (on sale now at  Greatskin.com for $38.50).  When I feel particularly dry, I use it in addition to my regular skin care routine.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant (available at Beauty.com for $14.00) really defies categorization.  This cream, which has been around for years,  is sold as a face cream.  With a constancy similar to Vaseline, I have used it on a chapped nose, lips, and other troubled spots on my body.  For me, it's not right as a face cream, but it is wonderful for  very chapped areas.

Body - For exfoliation, I like two similar products which moisturize while exfoliating.  They are Skinceuticals Body Polish (on sale now at  Greatskin.com for $17.95) and Osmotics Sugar Scrub Body Exfoliant (available at Sephora.com for $32.00).

For moisturizing the body, Cetaphil Moisturizing LotioN  (on sale now at drugstore.com for $8.49) is always a good choice.  If your skin is particularly chapped or irritated, Osmotics Climate Extreme Body Repair (available at Sephora.com for $45.00) is a product that I think is worth the price.  Actually, I use this product almost anywhere where I have an irritation and it really helps heal the spot.

Hands - I like a richer cream for my hands, particularly during the winter months and,  I've found three that particularly appeal to me.  The first is Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream (on sale now at drugstore.com for $10.49).  The second is L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (available at Sephora.com for $8.00-$21.00).  The third is Udder Wize Moisturizing Balm (available at CosmeticMall.com for $3.99).

Feet - It was during a pedicure that I was turned onto Serendipity 3 Frrrozen Hot Chocolate Foot Cream (available at CosmeticMall.com for $10.95).  It has a nice texture and the fragrance of chocolate.

Lips - Two products that are great for chapped lips are Rosebud Salve (available at Sephora.com for $5.00) and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Protectant Stick which comes in four colors and has an SPF 15 in it (available at Beauty.com for $15.00).

Have a beautiful month!
