Beauty Bits and Tips:  a few more beauty hints from us

My VIPS (Very Important Products)

I love experimenting and trying new products  It's a thrill to  find something  new that's fun or effective.  But, as some of my long-time visitors know, I have my favorite brands and products.   These are the items that I keep coming back to again and again even after trying other products to see if they work better.   I call these products my "VIPS" and wouldn't be without them.   So, I thought I'd share some of them with you.

Paula Dorf Smudge Brush - I love a smoky eyed look and the Paula Dorf smudge brush helps me achieve it.   This tiny rounded brush smudges eyeliner to give either a smoky look or to help tone down that harsh looking line that eyeliner can produce.   This is a brush I reach for every time I put on my makeup.  (The Paula Dorf Smudge Brush can be purchased at Beauty.com.)

T. LeClerc Powder - It's amazing to realize that a powder created in 1881 is still a cult favorite.  However, that's true with T. LeClerc.  I find that this rice powder is the finishing touch for flawless looking skin.   It comes in 22 gorgeous colors such as its famous Banane, a yellow powder which the company claims, "will light up your face."  I don't know about lighting up my face, but I do know that I look better when I'm wearing a T. LeClerc powder both  with and without foundation underneath.  (T. LeClerc Powder can be purchased at eLUXURY.com.)

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara - It's true, I am seeking the perfect mascara that will make my lashes look incredibly long and thick while appearing that I'm wearing no mascara at all.  Well, while I'm on this continual quest, I keep going back to Maybelline Great Lash.  It's a wonderful mascara which I find easy to apply.  The fact that its economical is the extra benefit.  No wonder its been a favorite of  professional makeup artists for years.  (Great Lash Mascara can be purchased at drugstore.com.)

SkinCeuticals Clarifying Clay Masque - I've used masks at least once a week for years and every time I did there was a little voice in the back of my mind saying, "Why are you bothering to do this."  That is until I discovered Skinceuticals Clarifying Clay Masque.  For the first time I saw a noticeable difference in my skin after using a mask and my skin shows it when something forces me to miss this step in  my beauty routine.  Made with 5 hydroxy acids, I find this product leaves my skin smoother and more radiant and my fine lines looking a little less pronounced.  (Skinceuticals Clarifying Clay Masque can be purchased at drugstore.com.)

Herpecin-L Lip Balm Stick - My lips get so dry that they crack in the corners, a condition both painful and unattractive.  Nothing had worked to quickly heal those cracks so, when a druggist suggested I try Herpecin-L Lip Balm several years ago I didn't anticipate much.  Well, was I wrong.  This little stick worked to soothe and heal those nasty sores in a day or so.  As an extra benefit, Herpecin moisturizes lips and contains SPF 30 for good sun protection.  (Herpecin-L Lip Balm Stick can be purchased at drugstore.com.)

OSMOTICS climate extreme body repair - It doesn't have to be a problem due to the climate that has me reaching for this soothing,  healing cream.  Anytime I have irritated skin, this is the product I use to help relieve the discomfort and heal the skin.   From overzealous tweezing and waxing to irritation caused by other skin care products, this cream has helped me through many a crisis.  I always keep a tube close at hand.  (Climate Extreme Body Repair can be purchased at Sephora.com)

Tweezerman Products - There are few Tweezerman products that have disappointed me.  From tweezers to cuticle nippers, I rely on these products constantly.   Best known for their tweezers, I have several.  Because of the way my hair grows, I usually use the point tweezer for my handiwork.  However, I also own the popular slant tweezer which is also excellent and a favorite of eyebrow professionals.  I consider these products part of my beauty essentials.  (A large selection of Tweezerman products can be purchased at CosmeticMall.com.)

Phytodefrisant Hair Straightening Balm - I don't just have curly hair, I have a mass of corkscrews.  So, over the years I've tried any product that claimed it would  help me straighten those curls.  Over and over again, I've returned to Phytodefrisant.  It's not Japanese Thermal Straightening, but it is a wonderful product which helps me (along with a brush and  my blowdryer) take my hair from tight ringlets to a smoother style which flatters both me and my haircut. (Phytodefrisant can be purchased at Sephora.com.)

Have a beautiful month!
